Jim, I'll get the full report........................no doubt I won't care!! Thank you, Tom, for sacrificing your football legacy so that I can enjoy four SB championships, while Jim only has two. Apparently in the minds of the Pats faithful (whom I assume you are both mocking and agreeing with in your posts) exceptional competency and the fact that the cheating did not affect the outcome in the Indianapolis game whitewashes the whole pattern of cheating and even equates to trustworthiness... Very odd. It's kind of like the Pat's fan base would give Paris Hilton a pass for shoplifting, because what she stole didn't really affect her net worth..." It will be interesting to see what punishment is handed down. It will be worse for the Pats reputation if the penalty is minor because that would confirm what everyone already knows, that Goddel is a Kraft puppet. Also, it will be interesting to see if this affects the Brady/Belichick relationship. Tom boldly and repeatedly lied right to Bill's face after the game and in the following days and Bill might not take kindly to that. We'll see. Jim

SB championships... while Jim only has two. That makes us even. We each have two untainted championships.

I'll get back to you, Mr. Generosity, I have to pack up my daughter's apartment in Lake Worth. She's moving back in with us. Bummer, I hope she is doing OK. You might need a laugh; www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/n-f-l-sentences-brady-to-a-year-with-the-jets?intcid=mod-most-popularAssuming that your tablet is too low-brow to load this link from the New Yorker (wink) , here is the text: FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (The Borowitz Report) – In what football insiders are calling an unexpectedly severe punishment, the National Football League has sentenced the New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady to a year with the New York Jets for his role in the so-called Deflategate scandal.
The punishment drew howls of protest from Patriots fans and management, with many calling it the harshest in league history, but N.F.L. Commissioner Roger Goodell defended the decision as “a necessary deterrent.”
“We need to send the message that this league has zero tolerance for cheating,” Goodell said. “We believe that a year of playing quarterback for the Jets sends that message loud and clear.”
Brady was reportedly in a state of shock when he heard the news of his punishment. He later met with reporters in a hastily called press conference during which he frequently seemed on the verge of tears.
“I am going to fight this decision with every fibre of my being,” Brady said. “This is America. You can’t force a person to play for the Jets.”
At a sports bar in Manhattan, the reaction to the impending arrival of the Jets’ longtime nemesis was muted. One Jets fan observed, “Look, Brady’s a dick, but even he didn’t deserve this.”

Okay, Jim, really???
I read the report, where does it present evidence that Brady wanted the balls deflated below 12.5 psi? It seems to me that Brady complained about the balls inflated at the higher end of the regulation. The texts indicates that he wanted the game balls at 12.5.
Also, the report states the Pats' removal of game balls from the officials' locker room and out of sight of NFL officials did not occur in any other games, home or away. I understand there was speculation around the league that the ballboys had needles and that the balls were spongy. I believe that reflects on the state of the art equipment being used to prepare regulation balls.
If anything, we are present with a couple of clowns(McNally & Jastremski) who didn't seem to know how to present legal balls(within Brady's specifications) to game officials. At this day and age, how can it not be possible to produce equipment to accurately inflate and measure a ball at/between 12.5 and 12.7, just to be safe. It 's stupid that the equipment used in a modern facility is so antiquated and that a couple of equipment managers have to run around with a needle to secretly deflate balls to their QB's specifications.
Tell me why Brady can't have balls at, or slightly above 12.5 psi? He's the leader of the team. Why should equipment managers have to struggle with that spec?

Hi Steve: Brady certainly can have balls at 12.5. He could have made it clear to "the deflator" that he wanted his balls at precisely the league minimum, before the game. No harm, no foul. Super-accurate pressure gauges are available, even if the Patriots choose not to own them. In this case however, "the deflator" sneaks off with the balls and deflates them after the official measurement. This is important, Brady gets punished because the balls were deflated after the official pre-game measurement. there is only one reason to do that of course. Any manipulation of the balls after they are in the official's possession is cheating even if the two clowns actually only deflated them to an otherwise legal 12.5 lbs/in2. Also, Brady gets punished because he refused to cooperate with the investigation. (There is no 5th Amendment in play here) If Brady is smart, he takes his 2-4 game suspension and and gets on with life. Things might really unravel for Tom if (for example) a sports journalist or the attorneys in a hypothetical wrongful termination case receive "the deflator's" unqualified cooperation. (The deflator being the plaintiff in my hypothetical wrongful termination case). Like Watergate, the cover up that may have happened (or still be happening) is potentially a lot worse than the original crime. What do you suppose Tom and the deflator were talking about in those post AFC Championship calls? Also, my guess is that Brady gets more punishment than he deserves because he is a Patriot, white, supernaturally good looking and popular and on Kraft's team. I don't think the league will want to risk the blow-back of any appearance of playing favorites here. Can't wait to see what they do. Jim

If Brady is smart he will take his 2-4 game suspension... Nailed it. (I doubt Tom will be smart though - his agent has promised an appeal.)

I would never turn over my emails if I were Tom. It's none of anyone's business, and you know that if he were to release his emails, some of his private messages would be released(leaked).
I don't buy that Tom is guilty by association with McNally and Jastremski. And super accurate pressure gauges, give me a break, both officials' pressure gauges differed by at least .35 psi when they tested the balls during AFC championship halftime. This was amateur hour between NFL officials ignoring claims by other teams claiming that the Pats deflated balls(this could have been resolved earlier), inaccurate testing equipment, and these two clowns running around with needles. I could have done a better job with a lot less drama and Tom would have gotten his 12.5 psi balls. This investigation did not come close to proving that Tom requested the balls be deflated below 12.5 psi.
I have to honest, if Brady wasn't the Pats' QB, I would hate the guy also..................with his charmed life, personal success, GQ good looks, etc, etc.
Just heard my wife yell that they suspended Brady for 4 games. I hope he appeals.

Btw, Garoppolo is a pretty good QB, so I'm not worried about the Pats going 4-0 at the start of next season. The draft pick is no big deal also, I can't get too upset with losing the last pick in the 1st round next year.

It seems like a wrongful termination suit is inevitable from the two equipment managers. They're already being hit with indefinite suspensions, so it's likely they will be terminated. If they're not terminated then we'll know that Brady had something to do with the deflated balls, or else why keep them on the payroll, if not to continue the cover up. So I'd like to see them terminated and Brady to appeal the decision, or else I'd know that Brady, the organization and the NFL are trying to sweep this affair under the rug.
That's where I stand, I'd prefer to see Brady exonerated than to have this fiasco disappear and forgotten.

It is a shame that the Pats have some easy games in the first four. I could certainly see them losing the opener against Baltimore though. Jim (Edit - the opener is actually against Pittsburgh. I wonder how Chris Nicholl is enjoying this story! We exchanged emails last year when he and his family visited Colorado.)

It is inconceivable (!!) that the two clowns acted on their own. Did you catch Troy Aikman's commentary when this story broke last year? You won't see a wrongful termination suit either. The clowns will be payed plenty of hush money and they are (no doubt) loyalists willing to die for the cause. Good thing for Brady too, I bet the details that would come out of a lawsuit would not cast Tom in a favorable light. Brady will appeal, either get the suspension reduced to two games or not and then the matter will be swept under the rug. I think that the fact that two of the Pat's Super Bowls have been marked by actionable cheating will never be forgotten. I don't actually hate Brady individually. It's just that the Raiders have sucked so bad for so long that us Broncos fans need a more suitable team to despise. Jim
