What Christians need is another Pope Innocent IV to reverse their fortunes. God doesn't make miracles like he use to, unfortunately.

I guess we should rename the Bible, "The Book of Obvious". Those are not prophecies, that's just history and human nature. A book written by a bunch of Jews with a monumental persecution complex. Oops! I'm being redundant again. Speaking of Jews, Happy New Year to your family, Steve. You seem pretty happy all the time, so I'm not especially wishing you anything you're unlikely already to have.

The religious point is too myopic. We are talking about atheists who "get offended". In Venenzuela I sung the Venezuelan national anthem (as an American). I didn't get all distraught and emotionally distressed. If someone doesn't like the cross at ground zero... just look the other way. If it says "under God" they get feeble at the knees. If they don't want to say it, don't say it--but don't impose their position on the 90+ % of people who want to say it. No... I am saying that, in this case, faith without works is dead. I pray and call. It would appear that you don't pray, give the appearance that you don't call and complain about people of faith. And with you statement about the Iraqi refugees, it seems like you are completely loveless. Is this an atheistic trait? Nice two step. You don't believe in prayer and give the appearance that you don't call. I do both. As far as praying reducing risk... have you ever tried it? Do you know the laws that govern it? Do you know what you can pray for and what you can't pray for? Have you ever read people's testimonies in reference to battle? How much do you really know?

Jesus was at the cross. Those against him had manipulated the system to get him there. As he slowly gasped his last breath he said "Father forgive them for they knew not what they are doing" and he gave up his spirit. It looked like all was lost on all fronts and that his live was in vain... but on the third day!!! It seemed like Daniel had lost on all fronts. Those in politics had manipulated laws to throw out Daniel and his God. As he stood facing a den of lions he told the king not to worry. It seemed like all was lost... but the night provided no harm as he emerged as if the animals in the den were but pussycats. Even when there are deaths... it doesn't mean there aren't any miracles happening. Some happen even today... www.wnd.com/2014/08/israeli-soldier-testifies-to-miracle-in-gaza/

May God comfort the family during this time. May it be etched in their minds that they will se the child again in heaven. We had lost two babies through miscarriages before we had our first son. Without me knowing, my wife had always said to God "I wish I knew what I had". Years had past and an elderly couple came to our church who had no idea that we had lost two babies. The wife had a moment where she was in the hospital. They said she had almost past away. When she came to she was sharing how she had seen her father and mother and other loved ones. After a while she also said (paraphrased) "You know what? I also happen to see two young men who looked just like your son except a little older". Sharing that with my wife, she mentioned her secret petition of knowing what gender her babies were". Well... we all die, Steve. Do hope to see you in heaven.

Venezuela, Ken ? Really? That's your story? OMG, you really stepped out of your comfort zone.
I've sang the Canadian national anthem, and the French anthem, and hummed along with god Save the Queen, and the Russian anthem.
You and your people don't make the rules in this country anymore.

Maybe you should start by listening to your wife in reference to Judaism? How do you know that you can't find a miracle at an NFL game? I heard an evangelical player give all the credit to god last Sunday for his play and victory. As far as beer is concerned, obviously you haven't tried Yuengling. Finally, if it's not related to chicken soup, my wife doesn't talk about miracles.

Well... we all die, Steve. Do hope to see you in heaven. I hope the mother and daughter find comfort in their faith in god, because they certainly don't have a son and brother to fall back on. It's not just a death, it was a prayer answered, and then betrayal. If you believe in the power of prayer, you have to feel betrayed by this story. I'm the atheist here, I'm the one who should feel ambivalent, yet it seems I'm who senses the betrayal in this prayer scenario. I don't think about heaven, I don't even care. Caveman stuff as far as I'm concerned.
