Well, WELL! Turned on the local news in the middle of a story about a challenge launched by St. Looey officialdom to the Missouri law forbidding same-sex marriage. Whodathunkit?? " St. Louis officials have challenged Missouri's constitutional ban on gay marriage by issuing four same-sex marriage licenses in a City Hall ceremony. Four gay couples were married Wednesday in the office of Mayor Francis Slay in a ceremony presided over by a municipal judge." Story continues here: abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/st-louis-challenges-missouri-ban-gay-marriage-24315038I may not be so embarrassed to live in this state after all. Of course, what the court decides may embarrass me all the more. This is at least a measure of progress that St. Louis city officials actually initiated the challenge.

I think these little skirmishes are irrelevant. It will have to go to the Supreme Court.

Even so, Ken, this represents a huge step in the right direction for as rightwing as the state of Missouri is on the whole. This state added Rush Limbaugh to its Hall of Fame after all.

I figured that Missouri, rightwing as most of the state is, would be among the last to bring a test case before its state judiciary. So, I say "Hooray!"

Now, if we manage to export our SSM agenda to all the other countries on Earth, certainly god will have no other choice but to wreak bloody vengeance on humanity. Wouldn't it be ironic if the the last bulwark against SSM marriage, the only city/state left standing, was the Vatican?
