You have earn the right to have a dissenting scientific opinion, fairness has nothing to do with it. Creationism brings nothing to the table.

Have you watched the first episode yet. I was worried that Neil was going down the rabbit hole with the story of Bruno--until the epitaph. "His was just a lucky guess." Brilliant recovery.

No, I haven't. Is it any good? I was thinking about watching it on On Demand.

Okay, I'm current, watched all three episodes.
Well done, the history animations are a little hokey, but overall I think the series does an excellent job of presenting what we do know in an easy to understand format.
Tyson does take some shots at the creationist/ID crowd with his discussion on the evolution of eyes, a favorite topic for ID advocates. I like the way he separated fear and superstition from scientific truth with Halley's Comet insights. lol, Halley delivered a precise prognostication that no spiritualist could come close to matching.

I've only seen the first episode. So far, I'd say that Tyson is over the top in more or less the same way that Sagan was. It is a palpably sentimental homage. The "martyrdom of Bruno" had me throwing up in my mouth a bit, but he rescued it with his final statements. The historical blurbs carry an obviously anti-church attitude, but one would be hard pressed to indicate where exactly they fail on fact. It's exuberant scientism. I think it's a bit overplayed, but more or less what I would expect in a populist pitch of science to a largely emotional and nonscientific audience.
