Ken will love this, though it's a stretch, but any stretch will usually do in fundamentalist circles. Is an earthquake behind the Shroud of Turin image? Radiation from earthquake could have led to 'wrong' 1988 dating

Oh for Pete's sake:
The 700 year old shroud is actually much older than carbon dating suggests because it was contaminated by the earthquake caused by Jesus' death?
I suppose we'll have to throw out all carbon dating now because of earthquakes.

I know, I know, but this is going to hit the Christian newswires any day now. I thought I'd put it out there to steal some of the thunder. We can't hide from these claims, so we might as well get out in front of it. So does this mean the Earth is older than 6000 years?

Hey, fake shroud produced by earthquake that never happened? There's a certain pleasurable logic about that, preposterous though it obviously is.

It's the same BS that we hear from YEC's whenever any dating method contradicts their religion: "the flood changed it all".

My personal favorite is, "Satan placed what appear to scientists to be fossils far older than the 6,000 year age of Earth, because God foresaw that science would proclaim fossils to be billions of years old to entice people to worship science. So, God allowed Satan to test future Christians' trust in the Bible as God's Word by means of fossils just as Satan tested Job."
In a twisted way, that's kind of awe-inspiring.

I think I just remembered why I left Christianity and spent 20 years as an Atheist.

I think I just remembered why I left Christianity and spent 20 years as an Atheist. Ya know, every evangelical Christian claims to have been an atheist prior to becoming born again into the faith. You're not pulling a play out of the evangelical playbook just to impress us, are you? It's laughable when they do because they can never explain what it feels like to be an atheist. Are you sure you weren't more of an agnostic for 20 years?

Are you sure you weren't more of an agnostic for 20 years? Give him props, Steve. If nothing else, he escaped from Catholicism, which is a feat in and of itself. True, he did get roped into another religion, but possibly it has something to do with a deep seated appreciation for Arabic and/or silly hats.

Are you sure you weren't more of an agnostic for 20 years? I will admit I did have a desire to believe God(swt)existed, but I was unable to find any evidence of him. As for how it felt to be an atheist, no different than it felt being a Christian. At the time I had no close family ties. Had lost my first wife and was running around the world with my second wife. I had taken an early retirement from work ( I was a state employed, loafer) and also my service connected injuries had reached the point were I was granted 100% Service connected compensation. My children did not like my wife and essentially disowned me. The two of us were footloose and fancy free. Did not even have a permanent address for the 19 years we were married. Although lived often in Mexico and Belize. Favorite spots were LaPesca (site were "Old Man and the Sea" was filmed and a small village on the Yucatan (forgot the name) (Home to the Yaqui) We also lived in every state east of the Rocky Mountains.

While they are usually identified with Sufi they are popular with the Sunni in Morocco. I actually prefer the Kufi like in my Avatar, but I usually call it by it's Arabic name Tarboosh. With a virtually bald head and North Dakota weather, I tend to keep my head covered. I also often wear my DAV (Disabled Veteran Cap) This is me, a friend challenged me to prove my beard was real. You can catch a glimpse of my DAV cap

Woodrowli,
I'm sorry to read that your children disowned you. That's a heartbreak.
You need to get a tripod for your video camera.

I reunited with the kids although they are in Texas. They accept my third and final wife. I do have a tripod, just keep forgetting to use it.
