I tried Googling the guy, but came up empty. Hollywood evidently feels there's something worth exploiting in a story about a Roman Centurion sent by Pilate to investigate Jesus' death. Did the guy get a couple of lines in the Gospels?

Fictional character, what else is new in bible world??? I guess they pulled one over on gullible old me. There's no mention of the character being fictional in the press releases. It's not nice to do that to bible ignorant atheist. "Clavius" is Newest Bible-Based Film in Production www.christianheadlines.com/blog/clavius-is-newest-bible-based-film-in-production.htmlA new film is joining the Hollywood trend of Bible-based movies. “Clavius,” will feature the story of what happened in the 50 days after Jesus was crucified. Joseph Fiennes, of “Shakespeare in Love” fame, will star as Clavius, a Roman army commander sent by Pontius Pilate to investigate Jesus’ resurrection. The search for Jesus’ body will spark the army commander to question his beliefs. Tom Felton, known as “Draco Malfoy” from the Harry Potter series, is reportedly appearing in the film as well; his role is so far unspecified. Patrick Aiello will be producing the movie. “Clavius” is set to release in theatres around Easter 2015. It joins such movies as “Son of God,” Noah,” “God’s Not Dead,” “Heaven Is for Real,” and the upcoming “Exodus,” “Ben-Hur” and “Christ the Lord,” as Hollywood studios race one another to compete for the attention of Christian audiences.

Like many Saints nobody knows there name so the Vatican issues them a Birth Certificate. Sometimes it takes a while before people begin to believe the person existed. But once they believe it is more difficult to convince them it was a Vatican invention Now stop confusing people with facts and just stick to what sounds good. Odd it took 2000 years for them to suddenly come to the conclusion the Romans would have investigated a missing body. One day Clavius will be found it in a newly found first edition of the Gospels.

Behind every smiling Roman, you would find missing bodies. What was there to investigate?
You are right, every legend has to start somewhere.

You know, of course, I would never had asked that question in the old neighborhood. Is that one of your photos?

I've never tried lunar photography - the seeing here, east of the mountains, is usually far too crummy for good lunar or planetary photos - from my yard anyway. I've never hauled the whole rig up to a high elevation for astrophotography, although I ought to some time. J

My days as an Alter Boy in the 1940s and 50s have finally proved their value. But when I was a smoker I never did make sense out of the Latin on a pack of Pall Mall Cigarettes: "In hoc signo vinces" I translate it as 'Vince is back in the Pawn shop"
